Free PPP / Open Transport Configuration
Connecting your Mac to the internet has never been easier. If you
have an active account, follow these quick and plainless
instructions to hook up to the internet.
You need to first make sure that you have FreePPP and Open Transport
installed. To verify, look in your Control Panels, you should see
FreePPP in there. If you don't, please take a look at the Apple
Tech Info Library to see how you can install the software from
your Mac OS CD.
Configuring your connection
To configure your computer so that it can successfully establish
an Internet connection. follow these simple steps.
- From your Apple menu, open your Control Panels menu,
you should see FreePPP listed in there, click on that.
- The first thing you'll need to do is open up your TCP/IP setting,
so click on the Open TCP/IP button.
- This should bring into your TCP/IP stack configuration. You
only have to do a few modifications. First, made a duplicate
your PPP setting and rename it . You
could modify your default PPP setting, but it becomes a pain if
morethat one connection exists on your computer.
- Make sure your profile is selected, click
on Make Active and then Edit it.
- This will bring you to the following screen, all you need to
do, is type in the correct
DNS server addresses in the Name server addr.: box.

- Close TCP/IP and it will bring you back to your FreePPP
screen. If you don't see an Accounts tab, click on the
disclosure triangle to allow you to edit your account settings.
- Click on the Accounts tab to select it, and in there
you'll be able to create a new profile for your connection, which
you should call .
