Dial-up Networking
These instructions will enable you to configure your computer's
internet connection using the Windows '95, Windows '98 native Dial-up
networking connectoid. These instructions assume that you have successfully
completed any signup procedures and possess an active
account.
Setting up an Internet connection is an easy two-fold operation.
It should take you less than 10 minutes to get up and surfing. First
you need to set up your TCP/IP stack and secondly,
you will need to create a Dial-up networking connection.
Setting up TCP/IP
Please follow these instructions to set up your TCP/IP stack:
- Open up your Control Panel by clicking on Start
>> Settings.
- You should see a Network icon, double-click it.
- Your network window may or may not have as many items as in
the screenshot below. If you already have TCP/IP and Dial-up Adapter,
skip ahead to configuring Dial-up networking.
- The first thing you'll need to do is add Dial-up adapter, so
click on Add >> Adapter.
- Select Microsoft on the left and then Dial-up Adapter
on the right.
- Click OK and you will see some new items in the window
but you'll still need to add TCP/IP.
- Click on Add >> Protocols.
- Select Microsoft on the left and then select TCP/IP
on the right.
- After you click on OK, all the required components will
be installed. All you need to do now is configure them.

- Double-Click on Communications. (Or select it, then
click on Details)

for some information.
